Dakota Fanning not ugly anymore
Child actress Dakota Fanning seems to have come through her awkward younger years just fine.
At the premiere for her controversial new film Hounddog, the 14-year-old unveiled a mature new look showing she's well on her way to being all grown up.
With a toothy Hollywood smile, and glossy locks, the child star is ageing gracefully and it seems without the troubles suffered by some of her child star peers.
Dressed in a satin babydoll-style top, black skinny jeans and patent peep-toe wedges, Dakota looked mature beyond her 14 years as she posed for photographers along with co-star Robin Wright-Penn.
A veteran of movies such as War Of The Worlds and Charlotte's Web, Dakota's new film sees her entering grown-up territory in the story of a young girl obsessed with Elvis, in the film which has been dubbed 'the Dakota Fanning rape movie'.
The low-budget tale set in 1959 stars Dakota as a 12-year-old girl obsessed with Elvis Presley who seductively sings for a teenager in exchange for tickets to a concert of the King’s.
However, it's release has been delayed by the controversy.
The press screening at the Sundance Film Festival was subject to actual boos, and scolding reviews.
And there were protests from evangelical groups after someone involved in its early financing alleged publicly (and incorrectly) that Dakota was naked in the film.
Director Deborah Kampmeier told the New York Times: 'If Dakota Fanning is so shamed for telling that story, what message does that give victims?
'I did not set out to make a statement, but in the 12-year process of trying to get this film made I have been unable to avoid facing the politics of being a woman filmmaker and telling women stories'.
The film is released in the US September 19.
idk her teeth are still kind of screwed up but otherwise I think she looks really pretty and looks a bit like mini gemma ward. and tbh it's refreshing to see a 14 year old actually look like a 14 year old
