The news article covers a few topics about American Idol: a new judge (addition, not subtraction, guys), previous idol people going to the BIG SCREEN and BROADWAY, how David Archuleta bested David Cook (snore), and something about Sanjaya. But the thing that caught my eye is what Simon said (you may have to scroll down if you check the article, it's the last one there) because this last season had so much controversy that got muffled by the powers that be (like Archie's rumoured boyfriend; don't know if that was true or not, just got it from someone else).
Simon Says
Now that Nigel Lythgoe has moved on to greener pastures, the word is Simon Cowell will be taking on a significantly larger backstage role. And be sure Simon has definite ideas. "I think it could just be more interesting and controversial than we did last year," Cowell said. "And that will change."
In hindsight, Simon says he was a bit disappointed with the contestants of Season 7, noting that he was not happy with the top 24 section and a lack of personality among the top 12. "They were so media-savvy, these contestants," Cowell said. "They never showed us or you their true personality. In part, they were like robots. We've got to make sure when we put people on the show that they've got personality. Because I didn't know much more about them at the end than I did at the beginning. Now, I thought the talent was great."
